Into the 3rd Week of School...

Time flies when we're having fun! So far this year the Kindergarten artists have practiced with scissors, created tear bears and started their pumpkins. The 1st grade artists got warmed up for their year by recreating their cows from last year with a good review of shapes and coloring techniques and we are now working on our beautiful peacocks. The 2nd grade artists are completing their fall leaf crayon resists and will be starting the silly winter cardinals soon, too! The 3rd grade artists warmed up their year with a recreation of the aspen trees from last year but updated it by mixing colors to create a beautiful winter sky. We have now started our crazy pattern birds, too! The 4th grade artists are having a BLAST with smelly marker printmaking! If you are a fourth grade parent please don't forget to ask your little artist to show you the fun technique. The 5th grade artists are absolutely astonishing me with their bike still-life drawing / painting. Starting next week 5th grade will be doing their glass bumble bee project. Glass is extremely fun and exciting but good behavior is a MUST during glass. Remind your 5th grade sweeties to be on their very best behavior during glass (and all of the time of course! :))

On October 1st the Ford Artists are going to be at the Marietta / Cobb Museum of Art on the Marietta Square for Art Walk. This is a HUGE honor and I'll be posting more info soon!

Please remember the FORD YEARBOOK COVER ART CONTEST is underway now! Artwork is due by September 17th to the PTSA box in the front office. It should be colorful and fill and 8.5 x 11 area. Please submit $1 with each entry. Contact pshearing@bellsouth.net with any questions!
